Happy Spring

by Barbara Lee on March 20, 2012

Spring Equinox promises the resurrection of nature’s dormancy.   Equinox is derived from the Latin meaning “equal night”.  During this time of year, days are nearly twelve hours long.  The sun is stronger as it progresses to linger a little longer each day.  Spring is the renewal of earth.  Life pushes its way through even in areas where snow tries to dampen spring’s enthusiasm.  Purple crocuses will not be deterred, they send up tenacious shoots to burst through the icy earth.

My nectarine trees are blooming as are the cymbidiums.  The pomegranate has leafed out and the roses are poised to open.  And when those stubborn Japanese Maples unfurl their beauty, Spring will truly have come to this California yard.
