Beach Miniature Garden

by Barbara Lee on May 26, 2012

Memorial Day weekend kicks off the start of summer and what could be more appropriate than a day at the beach? You’re not close to the beach? No problem, you can make a little beach dream miniature garden that you can enjoy every day. Gaze upon this little scene and pretend you are sitting in this weathered chair feeling the sand between your toes.

Later you can hit the waves and paddle out to sea on your board. Take a walk in the warm sun and study the sea shells the tide left behind.

Have fun making your little beach escape. The plants I chose will do best in full sun. But you could give your beach scene a more tropical vibe with mini palm trees and some ajuga for groundcover. Add some sea glass for more color and you have another variation for a miniature beach scene. Enjoy your day at the sea shore!

Add some soil to your pot.

Arrange plants to create a background. I used cushion bush “twiggy”, blue fescue grass, leafy stone crop.

Add a fence, push it down into the soil and water well. Add a bit more soil.

Beachy little stones will disguise the soil.

Now for the fun! Add a rustic beach chair and table for relaxation and some little shells for interest. You can stop here or keep having fun.

A mini surfboard waits to hit the waves. Flip flops are abandoned for a walk on the beach and a pail and shovel will soon build a sand castle.
